Jade's Story

Hi, I'm Jade, the heart behind Jade’s Tropical Creations. Originally from the Bronx, New York, my family made the sunny move to Florida in the mid-'90s. Florida became home to my husband of 20 years and where our three wonderful children—one girl and two boys—were born.

My Background

With an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership, I spent years in a traditional career. However, my love for arts and crafts always lingered in the background.

Balancing a full-time career and raising three kids left little time for creativity. Eventually, I decided to leave the corporate world to pursue something I was truly passionate about—creating beautiful, handmade products that bring joy to others.

How It All Began

When I started experimenting with candles and wax melts, I sampled hundreds of fragrances, observing that many sellers focused on traditional, everyday scents. While those have their charm, I wanted something more personal—scents that evoke memories and stories.

Being Puerto Rican, I was inspired to create fragrances reminiscent of my culture & heritage, like tembleque, the sweet coconut pudding my mom used to make, filling our home with warmth and nostalgia. This inspired me to explore Spanish and tropical scents that are often hard to find, and thus, Jade’s Tropical Creations was born.

The name reflects my journey and passion:

  • Jade: My childhood nickname and favorite color.
  • Tropical: Representing the vibrant, exotic scents in our collection.
  • Creations: Because I knew my creativity wouldn’t stop at candles and wax melts.

At Jade’s Tropical Creations, we started small—just 8oz tin candles and clamshell wax melts. Over time, as our sales grew, so did our product offerings. From status jars and molded wax melts to an expanding line of bath & body products.

This incredible journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my husband, who plays an integral role in running Jade’s Tropical Creations. While I focus on product creation, research and development, and social media, my husband manages the accounting, website, and wholesale side of the business. Together, we’ve built something truly special.

Our Mission

Meaning Behind My Logo

The Puerto Rican hibiscus, or Amapola, is a vibrant symbol of beauty, resilience, and cultural pride, deeply rooted in Puerto Rican heritage. It represents joy, strength, and the warmth of the island, making it a perfect emblem for my Spanish candle, wax melt, and bath bomb powder business. I chose it as my logo to honor my roots and to infuse every product with the same passion and vibrancy the hibiscus embodies, creating a connection between tradition, self-care, and the essence of Puerto Rico.

In Puerto Rican culture, the hibiscus flower, known locally as flor de maga or hibisco, holds a special place as a symbol of beauty, resilience, and tropical vibrancy. This iconic flower, often bright red or pink, represents love, passion, and delicate strength. It is also associated with the island’s lush landscapes and warm, welcoming spirit. The hibiscus is celebrated for its fleeting beauty, reminding us to appreciate life's transient yet profound moments. The hibiscus also reflects the enduring spirit of Puerto Rico and its people, thriving even in challenging conditions, much like the flower itself.
